The Alliance Franรงaise de Lusaka will provide a structured French language course at beginner level (A1) to 30 University of Lusaka (UNILUS) students during the first year of the agreement.
This initiative follows the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between UNILUS and the French Embassy, designed to promote French language learning and cultural exchange among university students.
Speaking during the MoU ceremony, the French Ambassador to Zambia, H.E. Mr. Thomas Marie Rossignol, highlighted that the partnership reflects a shared commitment to education, cultural exchange, and the promotion of linguistic diversity. He emphasized that UNILUS is not only a pillar of education in Zambia but also a hub attracting international students from across the region and beyond.
Ambassador Rossignol added that the MoU represents an investment in the future by building bridges between cultures, expanding access to French language education, and creating new opportunities for Zambian and regional students.
Meanwhile, UNILUS Deputy Vice-Chancellor for Student Experience, Alumni Affairs, and Partnerships, Prof. Mlenga Jere, noted that in todayโs interconnected world, the ability to communicate across languages and cultures is an essential skill. He further stated that this initiative will expose students to global opportunities, cross-cultural interaction, and international networksโkey elements for career growth and entrepreneurial success in an increasingly globalized world.
